Physical Education
Physcial Education
Our Physical Education curriculum is designed to promote physical competence, healthy lifestyles and positive attitudes towards movement, supporting pupils’ physical development, emotional wellbeing and personal confidence. Through a broad and balanced programme, pupils experience a wide range of activities that encourage teamwork, resilience, self-discipline and enjoyment of physical activity as a lifelong pursuit.
In KS2, pupils take part in regular PE lessons that focus on developing fundamental movement skills, coordination, balance and agility. Activities include games, dodgeball, circuit training and athletics, allowing pupils to build confidence in their physical abilities while learning to cooperate, follow rules and demonstrate sportsmanship. Lessons are structured to ensure progression, with opportunities for repetition, skill refinement and personal success, helping pupils to develop resilience and a positive relationship with physical activity.
In KS3, Physical Education builds on prior learning with increased challenge, independence and personal responsibility. Pupils engage in a wider range of sports and physical activities, developing technical skills, tactical understanding and physical fitness. Lessons place greater emphasis on teamwork, leadership, goal setting and self-reflection, supporting both physical and emotional wellbeing. Pupils are encouraged to recognise the importance of regular physical activity and to develop healthy habits that contribute to lifelong wellbeing.
