Swimming

Our swimming curriculum is designed to develop confident, capable and safe swimmers, supporting pupils’ physical development, wellbeing and personal confidence. Pupils benefit from regular access to a local Olympic-sized swimming pool, providing a high-quality environment that supports consistent practice, skill development and positive attitudes towards swimming as a lifelong activity.

In KS2, pupils take part in weekly swimming lessons to ensure steady progression and skill retention. Lessons focus on building water confidence, developing swimming strokes, improving stamina and understanding water safety. Regular access to the pool allows pupils to practise skills over time, build resilience and experience success through repetition and structured support.

In KS3, swimming is delivered as part of a rotation with other beneficial physical activities. Sessions continue to develop technique, fitness and water safety while placing increased emphasis on confidence, resilience and personal responsibility. Pupils are encouraged to set goals, reflect on progress and develop positive habits that support both physical and emotional wellbeing.
