Outdoor Learning
Outdoor Learning
Our Outdoor Learning curriculum gives pupils regular opportunities to learn beyond the classroom through practical, nature-based experiences. Using forest-school-inspired approaches, pupils take part in activities that build confidence, resilience and independence while encouraging curiosity and enjoyment of the natural world.
Across KS2 and KS3, pupils develop teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills through collaborative challenges such as shelter building, navigation tasks, tool use, outdoor games and group investigations. Activities are structured to support emotional regulation, self-belief and positive risk-taking in a safe, supportive environment.
Outdoor Learning also helps pupils build a strong connection to nature. Pupils explore local environments, observe seasonal change, identify plants and wildlife, and learn about sustainability, conservation and human impact on the environment. The programme links closely with classroom learning, supporting science, maths, English, geography and PSHE, and promotes wellbeing alongside academic development, helping pupils feel confident, capable and connected to the world around them.
